*it's been a long time coming ....

It's Official!

I will be exhibiting work at the Brunswick Street Gallery along with Aida Sabic this September!

I've been working on a bunch of portraits lately, mostly colour pencil work. They are based on the female protagonists in some of my favourite books. Catherine from Wuthering Heights, Mina Harker from Bram Stokers Dracula and on and on...

I will admit something though. I have not had any work on display since I was about 18 years old. My senior exhibit at NFA was my last one... back in 1994!!!!

So needless to say, I'm a little stressed out and a lot nervous!! I'm trying to cover all the bases of what I have to do, and thanks to Jacob and Aida, I think we'll be ok!

Anyway – more details coming up as it happens!!

Also, on a silly note – I am so excited for Saturday!! We have tickets to the All Blacks vs Wallabies game!! I will probably end up without a voice, but that's part of the fun!!

*Rose Street Market - Part 1

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day!!! <3

Jacob got me some very cool Barrel of Monkey earrings and some nice handmade non-soap soap. I made some yummy prawn alfredo pasta for dinner... it was a good day. I took a couple photos and if I wasn't so forgetful, I'd have them up by now.

Anywho. The Market went well on Saturday! Even with the rain and chill in the air. Thank you Marky for the giant cafe umbrella, even with the leaks, we would have been much worse off without it!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

Woodrow, a friend of Aida's took a couple shots - he's much quicker than I with the uploading.. Thanks!!!!

Cutest market visitor!!

Thanks Woodrow for the shots!!
Once I am back at my computer, I'll have more images of the stall and goods. Can't wait for the next installment of the Market this weekend!! Hope for no rain and sunny skies!

*The Rose Street Artist Market

I will be at the Rose Street Artist Market with the lovely Aida Sabic on the 13th, 20th and 27th of February!!

I'm so excited to be there!! This will be a first for me.. But yeah, bring it :)

I'll have some funky little buttons, quite a bit of my photographic work, TTV and Holga prints, and I'm actually working on a few drawings and a couple small paintings as well. Crazy!!! Anyway, hoping it's not as hot as it's been this weekend! Fingers crossed!

22 November 2009

*oh a week or so ago...

I've been slack at writing this week... Yikes! Sorry!

Well, a few things here and there have been going on. Mostly stuck at work - short staffed and stressed out. It's not the way I personally like to spend my time, but someone has to feed Timmy :)

Last night we headed out to the see the Women's Circus.

Our gorgeous friend, Erin, is a tumbler. Back flip Queen actually! It was a really good show! I have my favorite part still playing in my mind - think syncronized swimming meets flying - it was lovely! It was nice to learn a little more about the entire conception of the Circus as well. I'm really tempted to start training with them. I need to get back to beeing more physical and flexible. I think I need more than yoga.

The show is at the Living Museum of the West, Pipemakers Park on the Maribyrnong River from Thursday 19 November to Sunday 6 December.

Check it out if you can, and give your love to these amazing women! And cheer on Erin in all her backflip glory!

Another cool things this week - I'm borrowing a button maker from D&E. Love it! I've started making buttons made of fabrics and old maps and old drawings and actually will be making the buttons Aida will be selling at her show - which opens this Friday! Don't forget!!!

Some buttons :

Anywho, the Etsy shop has these, I will  be making more over the next few days - any requests, let me know!

Ok I'm off to start dinner and possibly finish a painting while listening to Andrew Bird or Sufjan Stevens... Ahh, good night planned!!

Aida has a group show coming up...

At Freshly Baked Gallery.com

And of course, she has a solo show coming up in early September. I'll be photographing the opening night for her solo gig. I'm so excited!! I've had the great opportunity to see her work progress leaps and bounds in less than the year that I've known her. She has and will do some amazing things!!

Make sure to make time for these shows coming up!!!
